As an artist, reconciling professional and personal pursuits can be challenging. In college, there was no question - I fell in love with abstract video art, and I was going to do that for the rest of my life. However, I struggled to find a professional application of my peculiar interests. I didn't know how I was going to make a living.
I was instinctively drawn to the writerly, painterly environment of post-production. I worked as a technical assistant at the Post-Production Center at NYU. That was a fantastic job, as I was able to help students as they edited their school projects. I also explored the producer realm as an intern at The Creators Project, VICE's arts and tech channel. VICE was an amazing opportunity, but I knew I needed to return to the world of post. Working at the NFL Network as a Graphics Production Assistant opened my eyes to the possibilities a motion graphics pathway would provide; Any skills I develop as a motion graphics artist will only enhance my personal work with abstract video art, and vice versa.
I have since spent countless hours online, utilizing the limitless wealth of Youtube tutorials to teach myself how to create assets in Photoshop and Illustrator, and animate them in After Effects. I've created numerous brand mock-ups, as well as graphics for individuals on a freelance basis.
I plan on exploring 3D quite a bit in the years to come. I took an Intro to 3D Animation course in college, which introduced me to 3D animation with Maya, and I've played around a little with Cinema 4D Lite in After Effects, but I have much more to learn - which is exciting to me.
Now, I'm seeking a position at a company as a motion graphics artist, so I can continue to develop my technical skills and collaborate with other creative people.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about my journey.  Feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or inquiries you may have.
Best wishes,
